Fountana di Piazza di San Pietro
One of two twin fountains on either side of the 4 B.C. obelisk in the center of the St. Peter's Square; the one here
is the original by Carlo Maderno (1613), which is the one on the right as you face the Basilica.  In 1675,
Gian Lorenzo Bernini created a second fountain to match this one which was placed on the
opposite side of the Square.  You can see them both in one photo by looking at the second photo in this series
that was taken of the Square from atop Michelangelo's Dome on Page 1.  This is me and my daughter, Tami, in 2001.
