This building is
located on the east side of Piazza di San Giovanni in Laterano. The
building was designed
by Domenico Fontana
in 1589 and houses two surviving parts of the old Lateran Palace:
the Pope's private
chapel (Sancta Sanctorum)
and the Holy Staircase (La Scala Santa).
